It's Been Real!

Well, tonight is the last technology class. I have to say, it has been one of the best classes I have ever taken, especially since I was so nervous to begin with! It was fun, engaging, very informative and I'm sure I will use what I learned in my future teaching. I learned so much, it surprises me. I wish we had another class like this before we are set loose to begin our teaching career. Someday, I hope to be as confident and experienced as Diane, our Professor, is. I am so glad I had the opportunity to take this class.

This End Is Near!

Well, I've finished the lesson plan, submitted all my observations and hours, updated my blog and turned in the Educational Evaluation Report. I'm getting closer to the end, it is in sight! It feels so good to be able to say that.

Is there anybody out there?

The title is a line in a song from Pink Floyd's The Wall. But it is also how I am feeling. I wonder if other people from my cohort feel the same way. Work is piling up and sometimes the feedback you are looking for is not forthcoming. I'm looking forward to a break!

Getting Started!

Will Richardsdon says the best way to find the potential of Weblogs as a teaching and learning tool is to become a blogger. So, that's what I'm going to do. From today on. Look at me- I'm blogging!! Boy, that was easy.
Seriously though, like anything else new we try to do, there is a learning curve attached and a period of getting comfortable. For me, the hardest part of blogging is formulating my thoughts into a cohesive statement that gets transferred to print. I am curious about who else is reading my thoughts, especially when I don't know they are doing it. I like getting feedback.
OK, I added the new podcast and it doesn't go on endlessly like the last one. Yea!
Do you think I'm learning?

Well, here I am, back at my blog. I couldn't figure out how to stop the endless podcast, so I removed it! I will work on doing another podcast and remember to check off the boxes so it doesn't play continuously. I feel like I leave class every Wednesday night with so much information. The two hours go by so quickly! But I made a resolution to myself that I want to learn the technology and use it as much as possible. This is the future, it is here now.

A "wow" moment

I had a "wow" moment today during an observation in a kindergarten class. The teacher was reading a book to the kids, A Nightmare in my Closet by Merci Mayer. One of the girls in the class raised her hand and said, "I do the same thing every night. I look under my bed before I go to sleep." The teacher asked, "And what are you doing now?" The girl answered "I am making a text to self connection."
I almost fell out of my chair!
Boy, would Kim be proud!!!!!

A New Year

Well, here I am again! I haven't posted in a few weeks. Fortunately, I'm sitting next to someone who is kind enough to help me out! Thanks person!!
I hope to become more comfortable with the whole technology idea. I know it will take time and that seems to be the hardest part right now-finding time. I think many of my cohort feel the same way. At least I'm not alone!!

Here I Go!

Well, here goes nothing! I am am going to post to my blog for the first time. I am really hoping this turns out OK because I didn't get to finish in class on Wednesday night because of the fire drill.
Janet, are you out there?!?
